Browser Page Title option was created by Martin7
hi,

I think one behaviour of CP menu item is not correct. The parameter "Browser Page Title" should influence only the page title and not both - page title and content header.

This parameter in case of CP menu item should have the same behaviour as this parameter in case of any other default Joomla menu item types - this mean overwrite only the html page title.

Additonally, there is another conf parameter "Page Heading" which seems to be not used bu CP menu item at all.

thanks
MArtin

Custom Properties implementation of "Browser Page Title" is indeed somewhat different than most components.

That's because, instead of being a purely static parameter, it can be dynamic when CP parameter 'Use tag as page title' is set.
Under this circumstance, the page title becomes the name of the tag (the visitor clicked).

Page Heading is not used. In fact, Browser Page Title is used as Page heading when (the improperly named) CP parameter 'Show page title' is set.

hi Andrea,

I understand that CP generated the page title adding tag name in case of some additional configuration options. This might be fine for a website in general. This is what other components does at well.

But sometimes the admin has a need to overwrite only the page title and set another fixed title (due to SEO key word optimisation). And this configuration parameter of menu item is for. If is empty - the corresponding component generates page title and header as the same value according to the component rules. But if this value is set - this value is directly taken as browser page title ignoring the component rules. The page header is not affected by this parameter.

So the problem is - there is no way currently in CP menu item to have different page title and page header.

Use case - page browser title in many case admins want to set to a log value - to better describe the content from SEO point of view. But such long value would be not fitting well as article header - too long, split to 2 lines, etc ...

Please think about it - would be nice to have this parameter with the same behaviour (and the behaviour as the parameter name says) - to overwrite only page browser title - and not both.

Ideally you can introduce into menu item one config parameter one - to be able to set page header and page title to 2 different values.

Could you include such extension in next release ? It is quite important from SEO point of view to have full control of customizing those 2 very important aspects of page - header and title.

many thanks in advance
Martin

It makes sense.

We'll modify Custom Properties so that, when "Browser Page Title" and "Page Heading" menu item parameters are set, they will override CP configuration parameters.
