Couple qestions

Quick questions:
1) editing tags in front end permissions you have: "public", "registered" and "super user" what about other levels?

2) has someone manage to style display results as regular joomla category list?

1) so far having a finer access level control on frontend tagging has never been deemed a priority by Cp users. So we kept it simple, with only three access levels.

2) I can't answer for everybody, but I think it's not an easy task. CP returns articles / other content items. Categories are returned as attributes of the articles.
The only thing that somehow resembles a category listing is the 'results summary' that can be optionally displayed before the results.

What I meant was to present tag results that look like regular joomla category in form of list...

If you mean something like this (Category List Layout):

it's not doable with Custom Properties
