We don't get the email notification either.
We tried the fix, but it seems it is only a partial fix for us.
We now get black box images. While sometimes it complains that the image is not valid:
But pasting that image url in the browser did gave us an image.

Code:
Warning: imagecreatefromjpeg() [function.imagecreatefromjpeg]: 'http://audimedia.iconicweb.com/mediasite/teaserImages/audi_motorsportteaser222.jpg' is not a valid JPEG file in /home/acna/public_html/components/com_customproperties/helper.php on line 813

If I paste this address:
audimedia.iconicweb.com/mediasite/teaser...orsportteaser222.jpg
in the browser, I trigger the *download* of the image and not a direct visualization.
It's as if the MIME type is not set properly or the download is forced.

We noticed that as well. Do you think there's a solution for this?
For now we will apply a hack which will ignore thumbnail generation for that particular tag, and instead use the original image but resized locally (via attribute).

I'm totally oblivious of AS3 workings and settings, but this behaviour could be consistent with some kind of hot-linking protection.

Well the image shows up in the article detail view (when we click on the "readmore" link), so I don't think it was meant to be any sort of protection.

Update.
We're in the testing phase that precedes the upcoming release Custom Properties 2.3.4. We will test CP with images hosted on AS3 (actually we will be using your images). Hopefully we will find the cause of the problem and then fix it.
We'll let you know our findings
